We also find out why utter devastation followed and what it meant to be Japanese during those tumultuous years.

Examining the experiences of those in the occupied territories, the various puppet governments and attempts at guerrilla warfare, along with treatment of the PoWs.

Ch4. An Extraordinary Measure
American bombing pounds the Japanese home islands and, in August 1945, atomic bombs fall on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
