John McAfee became unbelievably wealthy by protecting others’ computers, and known through the ’80s as a cybersecurity super-genius. At a certain point in John’s life, the notorious pioneer decided to move overseas, arm himself with firepower, consume tons of drugs and alcohol, and periodically flee from law enforcement.
“Running With The Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee” documentary follows the man behind the most successful computer software of all time after he ran away when cops were looking for him to inquire about the murder of his neighbor.
In 2012, Belize law enforcement sought McAfee as a person of interest in the death of his neighbor Gregory Faull. Later he was arrested in Guatemala for illegally migrating to the country, and eventually, he was released and deported to the USA in 2012.
Later in 2020, McAfee was arrested in Spain for US tax evasion charges, and within a year of arrest, he was found dead in his prison cell due to an apparent suicide.
With access to hundreds of hours of never-before-broadcast footage of McAfee as he’s pursued by the authorities, this is the definitive story of a larger-than-life character, a man who ran for President, escaped from prison multiple times, and claimed to have hacked the world.
Through raw, revealing footage and interviews with fugitive tech pioneer John McAfee, this documentary uncovers new layers of his wild years on the run.
