Motors TV – By Car, Comrad (2016)
English | Documentary | Size: 1.30 GB
What happens when the Cold War impacts the automobile industry in Eastern Europe? Carmakers of the region were as creative & competitive as those in the West. They made an incredible number of vehicles, stories of which are still unknown. But they were also subject to other constraints, mixing politics, planned economy and sometimes concern for prestige…
Given its size and climatic conditions, Russia is a country that is best traveled by train or plane rather than on comfortable roads. The private car did not develop as intensely as in Europe, but the Soviet regime was in favor of increasing the purchasing power of the population and did everything to make various types of goods, including new means of transport, available to people.
As creative as their Western counterparts, Eastern design offices have imagined an incredible number of vehicles, many of which have never gone beyond the prototype stage. They produced multiple variants of production models that often remained completely unknown once they crossed the border.
This documentary will take us through amazing stories, from the end of the Second World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Watch this film that unveils such stories belonging to the Cold War era.
