The focus of the course is primarily on the requirements for the design of the underlying physical network. Data center network design is covered with a focus on the spine-leaf (CLOS based) architectures. Using the white board NSX design concepts are explored in depth, including the design of the server racks from an IP addressing perspective. A design methodology is presented followed by a design discussion for a case study using the white board where options and tradeoffs are considered along with their operational considerations.
