The goal of the course is to provide the delegate with the foundations of network programmability by learning how to minimize the amount of manual interactions (“CLI”) with the network and increase the use of scripts and automation tools to drive down operational inefficiencies. Within these goals, the learner reviews network programmability fundamentals such as using Linux and Python, common automation protocols such as NETCONF and REST, how they relate to YANG data models, SDN controller northbound and southbound APIs, how to use device APIs on various Cisco platforms, and how to get started using automation tools such as Ansible and Puppet.

During this course, we will explore the primary components that are offered by Microsoft Azure Virtual Network under Microsoft Azure Resource Manager (ARM). This is sometimes known as IaaSv2. For the sake of clarity, this course does not cover IaaSv1, which is Microsoft Azure infrastructure services provisioned using the Azure Service Management (ASM) REST API. In addition to covering Azure Virtual Network concepts, we’ll also demonstrate the deployment and management of these services using the Microsoft Azure Portal, Cross-Platform (xPlat) CLI Tool, and the Azure Resource Manager PowerShell module.

During this lecture, we’ll explore the fundamentals of Microsoft Azure Virtual Network in Microsoft Azure Resource Manager (ARM). Virtual Networks are created as top-level entities within an ARM Resource Group. Each Virtual Network has one or more address spaces (prefixes / CIDR blocks) associated with it, and one or more subnets. A subnet can fill the entire space of an address prefix, or it can be defined as a subset of the available address space. In order to utilize Azure VPN Gateway, a Virtual Network must have a subnet named "GatewaySubnet" that is a /29, or larger.
