ABOUT JASON’S CLASS:

Brushes in Illustrator covers the five different types of brushes; Calligraphic, Art, Scatter, Bristle and Pattern brushes. This also covers the Brush Tool as well, which is not needed to create and use Brushes, but can add even more creativity to your creations once you learn how the Brush Tool works.

Brushes can be applied to any shape or line in Illustrator. Shape can be created with the Brush Tool or the Shape Tools and then have the brush creations applied to the stroke of those creations. What to explore more brushes? Use the built-in Library of Brushes to access and edit even more creative brushes for your creations.

In addition to creating brushes, this video will cover how to convert an image into a brush and practical applications of brushes in your creations such as adding texture, making your creations a brush and adding expressive qualities to them and being able to reshape the shape and lines that you have created with the Profile menu and the Width Shape Tool.

Brushes are no longer just simple strokes, they can be edited to create stunning and creative patterns, texture and shapes.

An Adobe® Certified Expert and Adobe® Certified Instructor, Jason Hoppe has accrued more than 20 years’ experience in high-end production training, photo retouching, color correction, and creative workflow management. In fact, Jason has been performing high-end electronic production since the industry’s inception. Also during this time, Jason has taught prepress and electronic design to hundreds of Seattle-based creative professionals and aspiring designers in a variety of settings, including one-on-one tutoring, classroom instruction, live webcasting, and large group training. He currently teaches the Adobe® Creative Suite at The School of Visual Concepts, Luminous Works and Seattle Central College and was the founding Instructor at CreativeLive.
