ALSO learn about …
The notion of computer networks remains a real mystery for many, unless they have a little computer knowledge. Yet today everyone uses these networks in one way or another, both at work and at play. Do you want to learn a little more about the subject or to deepen your knowledge in the field? Take stock with this file which will explain the main lines on computer networks.
A network: what is it?
We refer to a network when two or more entities within a group enter into communication. To do this, they must speak the same language. But the network is not just for communication. It also allows information sharing. The same goes for a computer network. It makes it possible to put in relation several entities speaking the same computer language. We speak in this case of “protocol”. This network will allow remote information exchange, chat with other people, send data, play online, etc. To summarize, the computer network therefore corresponds to a group of computer entities that communicate with each other.
What is a computer network used for?
The computer network thus makes it possible to perform a number of operations, such as sharing data between different users, sharing physical resources such as the printer, using certain applications without having to install them on one’s own computer, research information through the internet, communication between distant people, etc. It is thus possible to set up a computer network from different computers (regardless of the brand), peripherals such as the printer, cables, a network card, connectors making it possible to link networks together. Note that each type of network requires the use of special equipment. Operating systems, drivers, application software, administration software, and server software are some of the programs commonly found on computers on a network.
