The history of ancient Egypt is an endless mystery. It has inspired countless Hollywood films, video games, books and more. Unlike its predecessors, Netflix will delve into the dark in search of an unlooted tomb dating back thousands of years in the documentary “Unknown: The Lost Pyramid.”
Netflix is now releasing four new films as part of its four-part ‘Unknown’ documentary series. The first of the four films is “Unknown: The Lost Pyramid,” a fascinating journey into the sands of Saqqara where two world-renowned Egyptologists compete to uncover the mystery of a long-lost pyramid.
The documentary follows renowned archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass and his student and rival Dr. Mostafa Waziri. Hawass and Waziri race to find a pyramid lost to history, reportedly hidden within the ancient necropolis of Saqqara near Cairo. ‘The Lost Pyramid ‘ brings new insights into ancient Egypt, explores uncharted territories, and reveals the secrets of our world through the stories of incredible people and places never before captured on camera.
Dr. Zahi Hawass is determined to make an Impactful discovery, and he is confident that he will be remembered for finding the pyramid of Huni. The ancient Egyptian king was the last Pharaoh of the Third Dynasty and naturally an important figure in the Old Kingdom period. Not much is known about Huni, and finding his burial ground is therefore crucial to understanding ancient Egyptian history. Huni ruled about 4500 years ago, but only his name is found on some King’s lists. His pyramid is missing.
The legendary Dr. Zahi Hawass hunts for the long-lost pyramid of a forgotten Egyptian king while his protege and rival, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, searches for an unlooted tomb in an ancient necropolis. Both teams race against the clock to see who will make the bigger discovery and make their mark in history.
